Think about your loved ones!

Most likely you have a wife or a husband and some children.  These people probably love you very much and they may even be very dependent upon you both psychologically and economically.

Deliberately polluting your body with known carcinogens and gravely jeopardizing your health ,  , profitability , and comfort in the process and quite likely shortening you life itself and or gravely  disabling yourself for decades may seem like just your affair and nobody else's!

Nothing could be farther from the truth!  Your wife or husband and children if any deserve very much more from you!  You are a very selfish and inconsiderate fool if you don't give them your very best by not destroying yourself or being lazy!

God , country and community and billions of years of hard fought ancestry and have quite often struggled  and died not only for themselves but for you as well!

This struggle itself has given you the mouth , mind , lungs arms , legs , etc. that are your very very valuable gifts from your ancestors but  you can use you feet and legs and mind to go to a store and sell some of your wealth to by smokes and put them in your hands and then in you mouth and into your lungs and all over your body via your blood-stream so that they titillate your brain and grossly abuse both your and your abilities to serve family and community and country and God with every single solitary drag.

How dare we put a lousy next smoke above God-given God-self , husband or wife and child!  Is self indulgence so damned important?  Is there no shame?  Does your family need you?  Heaven help you if they do not!  Do you love them?  Do you really love them?

My voice is a "voice of Hypocrisy"  for my mind and feet are very limited forms of God but I do love both you and God and your family without even knowing their names , and even though I am not smoke free , it most certainly is not a good thing to continue smoking for quite soon you and I may be chocking and after that all too soon we may be croaking!

So reach out to the Lord and Let Him win you and Let Him help remove the desire to smoke from very deep within you.  Don't light up that cigarette when you can always put it off.

For after a while at that very potently wanted but completely ugly smoke you can laugh and scoff!

Prove to yourself that you can be great and put off smoking before it is too late!

Subject: I want to QUIT SMOKING

I am a 29 year married female.  My husband does not smoke and in fact can't stand it.  He used to constantly bug me about smoking so one day I got mad and told him I was going to quit.  I quit alright. I quit smoking in front of him.  Ever since then I have not quit and now I have top hide to smoke.  I take money from him to buy them, I sneak off whenever I get a chance to have a quick smoke, I live a lie because everyone in my life thinks I don't smoke.  I live in hiding and going off on quick breaks pretending I'm doing something else.   HELP!  I am at the point now that I want to quit.  I didn't quit when I told him so because I wasn't ready.  I enjoyed smoking.  But now it is actually becoming a chore having to have that cigarette.  I need it and have to have it any expense.  Now I want to QUIT FOR ME!   PLEASE HELP!   My last cigarette was yesterday at 5PM

Sincerely, Mabel

Dear Mabel:

Many of us set out too quit "cold turkey" only to have the turkey warm up , time after time!  To those , relatively few who have the fortitude to quit only once because that is "the end of their smoking." Heartfelt congratulations!  But it is vitally important that those very many of us who fail at our first "cold turkey" do not become "dead ducks"!  A thousand cigarettes are not the same as  the unfortunate "one more drag-smoke pack or occasional cigarette!" More cigarettes are not ever justified by fewer , no matter how many the fewer are or over how long a time they have been consumed. It is NEVER too late to QUIT or QUIT again no matter how many times you have "quit" before or how feeble or successful any former "quit" or "quits" were!
My brother , Sheldon Silva , (founder of Don't Smoke.com) is a firm quit once and never smoke again example ,he quit 11/18/1985 and hasn't had another drag and this was his first and thus far ONLY quit , and he does have that to be proud of.
But backsliding of ANY degree should not be taken as an excuse too believe that smoking  is our ONLY option at ANY given time! It is not usually enough  merely to "want to quit smoking"!   You probably , or should I say, "definitely" will strongly  want not to quit within exactly the same time frame as your desire to quit !  Which goal-idea wins is not a completely simple situation , to put it mildly!  You may try and fail more than once as do very many eventually successful quitters.  You may "quit" for more than one time and your "quits" may be longer of shorter with longer or shorter interruptions of varying severity and duration , but , trying and "failing" is no excuse for  never trying again because only if you try again  , sooner or later have  you  not yet already failed for the foreseeable future  and that priceless great success will still be a contemporary possibility for you

There is great hope...., but only for those who do not give up trying to quit or who try again later even after giving up for a while , if it is not then too late!.  It is a very well known fact that very many people , just like you , do successfully quit for five, ten , twenty or more years or even for life and less smoking is less smoking weather it is five years OR life and if you ask me that is a very good thing!  Those who don't try to quit or who give up on quitting  without ever trying again  stand a terrible chance of very serious suffering , disability and early death!  As do those who spend too much time dallying with long heavy smoking between attempted quits!
If you put off trying to quit for a year or so you can try then "if you are still alive and healthy enough for it even too matter!"  But you can rest assured the delay will not make you healthier and quitting  will most likely be a little harder to accomplish then than it would have been now or circa now!
I am not an expert  but doesn't cancer often come from "humble" beginnings? Could that last cigarette just happen to have been your last pre-cancerous one , "provided of course you are that lucky!"
If  you are loved by someone special and you love them back or even if you just love yourself or hate the prospect of sharp and long personal pain and  suffering you will quit once and for all .  If you don't succeed in quitting  ONCE  an for all, you will do your "dead" level best to quit  TWICE  and for all or even thrice and for all etc.! If you fail , try again but don't forget to try  to learn the need for and importance of a redoubled effort and therefore try much harder each and every time!  Do not use "a setback" as an excuse for " a failure"  the longer an smokier the vacation from trying  too quit  the more dangerous  that digression  is, a long vacation from trying hard to quit is a very big and quite possibly deadly cop-out!
If you try and fail , learn some new information about how  and why to quit and remind yourself constantly that you  very likely can not afford to have one more drag or smoke at all! Try to consider your own well being and the well being of loved ones much more respectfully the next time out!  If you try having just one drag or smoke  for the "quit - road" you are "going down a very bumpy road" and you very much need to get the Hell back on the recently resurfaced road  to recovery  as quick as you can!  You don't utterly fail until you stop trying or finish dying!
